The production of sparkling wine is almost anchored in DNA at Kettmeir: the winery was founded in 1919. After World War I Franco Kettmeir was one of the first producers of sparkling wine in Alto Adige. In the beginning, it was only the industrial variant of production. Since 1992 the main focus has been devoted to the expansion of the sparkling wines according to the classical method of bottle gassing. Meanwhile there are produced four different types of sparkling wine. The cultivation of the grapes at altitudes between 500 and 750 m a.s.l. yield very fresh, fruity, strongly foam wines.
